bookdistribution

Without spiritual knowledge human life is incomplete. The most profound spiritual knowledge is found in the Vedas. Srila Prabhupada considered it his most important activity to translate into English the essence of Vedic knowledge. To spread that knowledge, he established the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust, which has become the world's largest publisher of books on Indian religion and philosophy. The Hare Krishna devotees want to give everyone the chance to learn the transcendental knowledge contained in the Vedic literature. Many people have come to Krishna consciousness simply because they met such a dedicated devotee who presented Prabhupada's books with enthusiasm and conviction.

Srila Prabhupada says, "The Sankirtana devotees are very very dear to Krishna. Because you are doing the field work of book distribution, Krishna has immediately recognized them as true servants. Just like during war time, a farm boy or ordinary clerk who goes to fight for his country on the front, immediately becomes a national hero for his sincere effort. So Krishna immediately recognizes a preacher of Krishna consciousness who takes all risks to deliver his message."
(Correspondence, Vrindavan, 11/12/75)
